Former Model’s Product Hides Nipples under Sheer Clothes
July 8, 2003
BIRMINGHAM, AL (AP) — An entrepreneur and former fashion model in Birmingham, Alabama, has a product that she says will save women a lot of embarrassment.
Sheila Johnson and her husband Kraig are the designers of Nippits. They’re an adhesive cosmetic product that allows women to hide their nipples beneath clothing. They are made in Knoxville.
Sheila Johnson says she’s tried everything, from Band-Aids to breast petals to duct tape. None were very effective for her. So she asked her physician husband for help designing an alternative.
Nippits are strips of medical tape shaped in a small circle that compress the nipple. They are strong enough to conceal but discreet enough to be worn under sheer clothing.
The market has spread worldwide. A-list celebrities like Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez have worn them.
Nippits have also appeared in movies like “The Matrix: Reloaded,” “Sweet Home Alabama” and “A Beautiful Mind.”
she appears in the movie Coming to America (1988) with Eddy Murphy and Arsenio Hall
