Catherine Roberts

Catherine Roberts became one of the most photographed “Beauty” models during the late 70’s and early 80’s. At six feet tall and quite voluptuous, she was outside the rail-thin model standard of the day.

The legendary Wilhelmina Cooper, another tall, voluptuous brunette, recognized the potential in Catherine’s classic features and luxurious dark hair and signed her to an exclusive contract.

Catherine garnered the first of her forty plus commercials within her first two weeks at the Wilhelmina Agency. She forged a unique and noteworthy career appearing in long-running national advertising campaigns as the face of L’Oreal and Charles of the Ritz.

Later, after moving to the Zoli Agency, she became one of the most sought after beauty models of the day; appearing in advertisements for Max Factor, Revlon, Coty, Clairol, Helena Rubenstein, Saks Fifth Avenue, Almay, Elizabeth Arden, Avon and others too numerous to list. Her photographs appeared in every major publication. An extensive resume of advertising campaigns for products as diversified as sunglasses, furs, bras, watches, automobiles, jewelry, liquor, and even frozen dinners are a part of her portfolio.

Included in the long list of talented photographers with whom she worked are names like Richard Avedon, Hiro, Bert Stern, Bill King, Chris Von Wangenheim, Jimmy Moore, Neal Barr and Bob Richardson.
