Anna Anderson

“Anna Anderson was born in Rome, of Norwegian parents, and began her modeling career in Paris. But, as any fashion photographer knows, most really good models have crossed the Atlantic.” Quote by Peter Litchfield, from his book titled: “Most Beautiful Women.”

Anna was popular in the U.S. during the late 1970s and early 1980s, and was represented by the Ford Model Agency in New York. Anderson acted in: Eyes of Laura Mars (1978), and Portfolio (1983).

Are you seriously Anna’s daughter? My God! I have NO pictures of her, I adore her, have looked everywhere for images and info… help me, please?
I would love to make a gorgeous album for her, write a decent bio, (I even have a writer who could interview her), I’ll add a website, link, anything she wants, but I have always regretted not having a decent album of her!
    I’m so happy you wrote!
    Thank you,
    Eva

    Thanks for replying Claire!

I did believe you when you said you were Anna’s daughter, I was just thrilled that you wrote me!

I remember when Kerry Warn told me your mum got married, moved to SF and had twins. That was the last I had heard about her until you contacted me.
She must be so proud of you~I love how you beam about her! That’s so sweet.
Yes, of course I’d love to be in touch with her, and I’d love to add images for her or any info if she wants me to, would you please pass that message along to her?
Thanks so much for writing. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and give Anna a hug for me!

I searched on Anna’s name because I’m editing and tossing out film and came across candids
and images I shot for the Neiman Marcus Fur Book in Soviet Russia in 1978.
I was just wondering what she might be up to. Great response from her daughter.

  6. Eva Voorhees says:

Well, if you come across any images I can post here on my site you’ll make me very happy! Such a beautiful lady and I always want to make her album nicer.
I loved hearing from her daughter too!

  7. Thom Jackson says:

    Eva,
I have candids from the Russia trip and I have images I shot for the book.
I also have some advertising images I shot of her for Neiman Marcus.
I’ll get busy and scan them if you like.

  8. Thom Jackson says:

Maria Hanson was on that shoot as well. The male models were Conrad Bell and Kalani Durden.
It was the first time anyone shot commercial fashion in the Soviet Union.

  9. eva voorhees says:

Wow, I was just talking about adding Maria last night. I have about 50 of her Maidenform ads but no scanner at the moment. I would be so grateful if you could add to Anna’s album, Thom.
    Thank you for offering!

  10. Eva Voorhees says:

I’m so thrilled for the additions to Anna’s album. I hope you’ll check in Claire!

  14. Eva Voorhees says:

It was so hard to find images of her-then I scanned Michael Doster’s book-17 images of her in it! And a darling fan sent me about 12 more pics, plus others helped too! She so deserves a stunning album! I LOVE her! It definitely takes dedication to do right by the models!

  15. eva voorhees says:

I’m so proud of Anna’a album, and so grateful to all the people who helped me make it! (A lot of people in fact!) Thanks everyone!

  16. claire says:

    Hi eva and everyone,
thanks so much for putting up those new photos! I am so proud of my mumma. She is honestly the most amazing lady and i think its so great that you have added such awesome photos.
    Thankyou :)

  17. eva voorhees says:

I had Michael Doster’s book, and there were 18 photos of her in it! As for the rest of the images I added, some really great friends and fans of her’s sent them me! I’m really happy with it now.
I’m so glad you like it Claire! xoxoxoxo

  18. Christopher says:

Hello again…I just saw Anna in “Eyes of Laura Mars” and would sell my soul to get ahold of all the Helmut Newton stills that were used in that film (I am a big fan of his work). I found a lovely little site that has scans of Vogue covers of various countries and era’s etc, that I thought you’d be interested in, in case you haven’t seen the site:

    voguearchives.onsugar.com

I just sent your website to a girlfriend of mine and she’s gone as bananas over it as have I, as I keep coming back to it for reference ideas and such or just because I love looking at the pictures and just because I love looking at all the icons. If there is any way that I could be of help, just let me know. I have been stockpiling magazines for years (as have many friends of mine) of various editions of Vogue (faves being Russia, India, Italian and China at the moment) as well as W, so if there is anyone contemporary or perhaps someone showing up out of the blue in a layout from the good old days (Dayle, Patti, Janice, Isabella, etc) in a current issue recently I would gladly see if there is a way that I can make any scans as such. That website with the composite cards from the 60′s-1990 I found online recently (which I am sure you know about) has been fun too, especially seeing the early work of my faves that is so rare to see.

I live in Portland Oregon, and they have archives upon archives of Vogue and Harpers from the 40′s onward to the present day all bound at the main library branch and nothing is more fun to me than having a day off to flip through those magazines so if there is any way that I can be of help, just ask. I’d be also happy to check and see if there may be some issues from your heyday as well that maybe you’d like me to find, it wouldn’t be a problem…gives me something to do on a rainy day, and I love the library.

Oh and that picture above of the models with Perry Ellis, I wonder if that was from a backstage show or a layout, because I recognize the clothes and I believe that was one of the few runway shows that Gia did. How I remember details like that and cannot remember if I locked my front door 5 minutes ago is beyond me! :)

  19. eva voorhees says:

You’re a darling Christopher! But be careful, I could always put you to work!

I love Anna, it was painstaking making this album, and took about 1.5 years.

I’m thrilled you like my site, but don’t want to put you to work. If you ever decide to scan, however, let me know! I would add your images, and if you have a decent amount to start an album of another model… I think 20-30 images should be in an album to begin with… let me know! But I do like to try to keep it even, so since I have 96 albums now, I would want to do 4 more, making it 100, and really well. I’m sort of a perfectionist. :)

The W ad was a collection of Perry’s models. Booked and shot for Perry by W. I’m there hiding too!
Lise Ryall, Esme, Maria Von Hartz, they’re all I can see on this end, if I click to enlarge I may lose this message.

    Thank you!

  20. eva voorhees says:

Kim Alexis, Tara Shannon, Juli Foster, Nancy Donahue… they are in the W ad too…

  21. Courthey says:

Doe’s Miss Ann have a website? Eva you are such a beautiful person wish it was more people like you :=)) and Claire how’s your mom doing? what she’s up to?

  22. Linda Penner says:

Anna Anderson is indeed beautiful in every way and what a beautiful collection of images.

  23. Linda Penner says:

Anna Anderson is one of those wonderful models that maybe her name does not come to mind fast but her face sure does. She has been seen on covers of magazines and also in the movie The Eyes of Laura Mars which of course she plays a model. She is graceful and one can see why she made this list by the photos above.LP

  24. Eva Voorhees says:

Courthey, this is all I have ever been able to find on Anna. And I’m always going to be disappointed there isn’t more here because she did such amazing work, but I can always add images should I get lucky one day. I don’t think she has a website, I’m sure Claire would have mentioned it if she did.
Linda: Anna, like so many gorgeous models, worked a little bit before models became household names.
But she was so dear and special when I worked with her I had to do whatever I could to add her. I think I started with 5 pics! Then I took off all Conde Nast images from SMI, so I had to remove her Vogue covers. :(
