The concept of SMI came about due to my desire to preserve thousands of historic images of many models I had the pleasure to work with during my career.
I decided to create a website to showcase these images, and set about scanning my collection in order to make models their own album on SMI.
I created several Facebook pages to promote SMI, and personally make youtube videos for models on display at: smiyoutube.com.
SMI has been a labor of love for nearly four years. Its growth and continuous popularity is beyond anything I envisioned, which makes me tremendously proud and thankful. The many fans who appreciate my efforts to preserve fashion history have shown infinite kindness, dedication and support.
Due to the attention SMI has received, we are proud to announce that many high profile individuals have volunteered to take part in this endeavor. Individuals including writers, photographers, artists and their representatives.
SMI is now able to expand to include its own Advisory Board.
To date, the board consists of three world-renowned photographers: Michael Doster, Renato Grignaschi and Robert Farber. Lawrance S. Strauss, a litigation attorney who practices in Beverly Hills, CA, its founder, Eva Voorhees, and we also have our own writer to interview the amazing models: Christopher@SMI.
In order to consider a model for addition to the site, several simple guidelines have been implemented:
All suggestions need to go through the contact form on SMI.
Put the model’s name in the subject. Include in the message the model’s body of work—her print clients, both editorial and advertising, shows, commercials, etc. A bio must be included as well to consider any addition.
Magazine covers are extremely helpful for the main page of supermodels. We’ll also need a minimum of twenty to thirty high res scans to make an album and in order to consider them for a youtube video.
After the submission process is complete, the SMI advisory board will make it’s decision and determine the web designer’s costs involved for adding the model suggested. The costs are based on the circumstances and the process involved. This is a nonprofit site that receives no sponsorship.
Fees expended to expand and maintain the site are borne entirely by the site, no one is charged to be on SMI. However, free PR cannot last forever, and the reason we must ask for the costs to be added be covered.
Welcome, enjoy, and thank you for your support,
SMI Admin
